Virtual InvitationRoyal Banquets also known as Royal State Banquets were banquets held in honour of a visiting Head of State. During this occasion, the reigning monarch entertains around 170 guests on the first evening of a State Visit. These Royal Banquets are held in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace.
All over the world, state banquets are held for foreign heads of state and government and are usually hosted by their own Head of State usually the President or a Royal. In other countries such as the US it is called a “State Dinner.”
State Banquets were a key part of coronation festivities.
Following the crowning ceremony, thousands of royals, dignitaries and other members of high society would gather for a decadent feast to celebrate the new monarch's ascension to the throne.
